Nut Free Berry Bliss Balls

These berry flavoured bliss balls are a nice change from most bliss ball recipes and the extra seeds provide a nice texture and some great nutrients. Being nut free they make a great addition to school lunchboxes too.

Ingredients:

5 medjool dates

1/2 cup berries – I like frozen blueberries but any fresh or frozen berry works.

1/2 cup pepitas

1/2 cup sunflower seeds

1/2 cup desiccated coconut (plus some extra for rolling)

1 tablespoon golden flax seeds

1 tablespoon hemp seeds

1 tablespoon acai berry blend

1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste

pinch of celtic sea salt

Method:

Place all ingredients into a food processor and process until it comes together. Blend longer for a smoother texture.

Roll into balls and then roll in a little extra desiccated coconut. Place in fridge or freezer to set and then enjoy!

These can be stored in the fridge or freezer. If you want to put them in lunchboxes then I recommend the freezer.

  1. I am going to try these for my Miss 4! Nut Free Bliss Balls are awesome for school lunches! We always have a stash in the freezer 😉 Do you have any suggestions for alternatives to dates at all? Apricots? And my daughter doesn’t like coconut, any ideas on substitutes? 😉
    Thanks! x

    • I love sending these to school with my kids!

You could try apricots – not sure what the flavour would be like though. Let me know how they go.
You can just leave them without rolling in anything (although these one are a bit sticky) or maybe roll in some cacao or even some chia seeds or ground up sunflower seeds?

  2. I am keen to try these but don’t have hemp seeds and am reluctant to purchase the Acai Berry Blend unless I know that my family like this recipe. Any suggestions on substitutes please? Perhaps additional flaxseeds instead of the hemp seeds? Thanks

    • Use anything you like instead of the hemp seeds or just leave them out.
No replacement for the acai berry blend really though. It gives an extra berry flavour. You can make them without it. They just wont have the same flavour but will still work.
The beauty of bliss balls is that you can really make them anyway you like. Just taste and add what you think needs to be added!

  3. I bought Acai berry powder as my local did not have the blend. Expensive! $20 for a small pkt. I will give it a rely and report back !!!
Have. Tried some of your other recipes ie banana bread – out of this world. I need more over ripe bananas

    • That is expensive! You can buy the Nutra Organics one online. There is a link in my shop page.

Glad you like the banana bread. It is one of my favourites!
